3 NUS-affiliated social enterprises making a difference

Apr 10, 2019

We are pleased to announce the latest three recipients of the Lotus-NUS Fund – bantu.life, Play Hua Hee and Wellderly – who are taking innovative approaches in making a positive impact on society.

A collaboration between Lotus Life Foundation and NUS Enterprise, the fund awards seed funding of SGD$25,000 to promising NUS affiliated social impact-driven start-ups that are founded by Singaporeans. It helps them to accelerate their business growth towards building a sustainable and scalable social venture. Find out more about this season’s award recipients:

bantu.life

Inspired by the Malay word for “help”, bantu is a social enterprise on a greater mission to transform the whole realm of volunteerism across the region through technology. Our web-based platform helps non-profits automate processes and communicate effectively with volunteers using features such as scheduling reminders, aggregating attendance, and analysis performance. Overall, it saves time up to 40 hours every month per manager.

Play Hua Hee

For caregivers and volunteers who struggle to connect with seniors, Play Huahee creates befriending activities and games to help them break the ice and form stronger connections with seniors.

These tools aim to take the stress away from communities who are tasked with planning programmes for seniors. Since its launch, Play Huahee has sold over 800 card games to hospitals, nursing homes and organisations who regularly volunteer with seniors.

Wellderly

Wellderly is the one-stop centre for all chronic and elder care needs. We build the modern-day version of traditional care management, where taking care of the sick and the elderly become seamlessly human and tech-powered.

We use dedicated care coordinators and our technology platform to project manage healthcare for families with sick or ageing loved ones, making life easier for caregivers. We add a layer of much-needed customer service to the health system – giving families help, hope and peace of mind.
